About us

New Canaan High School Library serves the 1,300 or so public school students who reside in New Canaan, Connecticut. New Canaan is town of 20,000 residents (according to the 2010 census) and it is located 48 miles northeast of New York City.

Occupying an 11,000 square foot space, the physical library features a 1,200 square foot makerspace, 2 flexible classrooms, a virtual reality lab, a green screen room, 9 flat screen monitors configured for collaborative learning, flexible learning library space, a food-friendly zone, and traditional quiet study carrels.

On average, it is visited by approximately 200 students (who bring their own laptops or tablets to school) per class period, in addition to HOW MANY CLASSES VISIT THE PHYSICAL LIBRARY. Featuring a collection of 18,000 print volumes, students rely almost exclusively on digital content for research. Print circulation accounts mostly for independent reading and literature circle reading.
